UFL Week 6 Picks & Predictions: Showboats vs. Roughnecks (Saturday)

Week 5 of the 2025 UFL season is in the books. Last week, I finished 3-1 on my four bets. I went 1-1 Saturday night in the Michigan Panthers vs. St. Louis Battlehawks matchup, with the total easily hitting over 37.5 points (59). Unfortunately, Michigan failed to cover the 2.5-point spread, losing by five points, 32-27.

Meanwhile, I went 2-0 in Sunday's matchup between the Houston Roughnecks and the San Antonio Brahmas. The under of 39 points total hit, with the Roughnecks getting a 27-3 victory. Furthermore, Houston won by 24 points despite being a three-point underdog, easily covering the spread.

However, last week's games are in the books. Now, it's time to move on to Week 6. Let's look at my two favorite bets from Saturday afternoon's matchup between the Memphis Showboats and Houston Roughnecks.

UFL Week 6 Picks & Predictions: Showboats vs. Roughnecks

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Bet #1 - Under 36.5 Points (-110)

The Showboats became the final team to earn a win, pulling out a victory last week. More importantly, Memphis scored over 17 points for the first time this year. However, the Showboats won 24-20 in overtime, scoring four points in the extra period. By comparison, they had averaged 12.5 points per game over the first four weeks, scoring 12 or fewer in all but one matchup. Furthermore, the Showboats scored 17 points in their Week 3 loss to the Roughnecks.

Meanwhile, Houston scored 27 points last week, a season-high. However, they faced a struggling San Antonio defense. More importantly, the Roughnecks scored 35.5% of their points for the year in Week 5. By comparison, they averaged 12.3 points per game over the first four weeks, scoring nine or fewer in half of those contests. Furthermore, Houston has scored 18 or fewer points in all but one game this season, including the matchup against San Antonio in Week 3.

Neither team has had much success this year. Furthermore, both offenses have been two of the worst in the UFL. The Showboats have averaged 14.8 points per game, the second-fewest in the league. Meanwhile, the Roughnecks have averaged 15.2 points per game, the third-fewest. When these two teams faced off in Week 3, the game finished with a total of 35 points, as both teams scored 18 or fewer. Expect a similar outcome in the rematch.

Bet #2 - Roughnecks MoneyLine (-225)

Last week, the Showboats got their first win of the season, becoming the league team in the UFL to earn a victory. While many will be impressed by their win over the reigning champion Birmingham Stallions, Memphis nearly blew the game. They allowed Birmingham to score 11 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion to force overtime. Furthermore, the Showboats lucked out in overtime, outscoring the Stallions 4-0 in the extra period.

Houston had an impressive 27-3 win over San Antonio last week. They have won two of their past three games, including a one-point victory over the Showboats on the road in Week 3. Furthermore, the Roughnecks have played better than their 2-3 record would suggest, getting outscored by only 1.8 points per game this year. They lost by two to the Arlington Renegades in Week 2 and seven to the Stallions two weeks ago.

While both teams sit at the bottom of the USFL Conference, Houston has clearly been better. They have a points differential of only -9, while Memphis' is -34. Every Roughnecks' matchup since Week 1 has been a one-score game. By comparison, the Showboats lost two games by 14 or more points. Memphis is still the worst team in the UFL despite last week's win. Therefore, expect Houston to get a close victory like in their Week 4 matchup.
