As the calendar moves towards May, warmer weather has been the backdrop for many Major League Baseball games of late. Many cities will see temperatures in the high 70s or 80s today. Does that mean we are in for more offense in today’s loaded 15-game slate?

Tuesday's Best MLB Player Prop Bets

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tanner Bibee Over 2.5 Earned Runs (+115

The Minnesota Twins entered Monday’s series opener against the Cleveland Guardians with a 5-1 record in their previous six games. And while starting pitching had a lot to do with that success as their starters combined for a 2.23 ERA in that span, the offense also did its part, averaging  5.2 runs per game.

The recent offensive spark for Minnesota is why I am willing to look past Tanner Bibee’s career success against the Twins in this divisional rivalry. Bibee has limited the current Twins lineup to a combined .179/.247/.317 slash line in 67 at-bats. While the 27 strikeouts in that split are troubling for Minnesota’s chances for a high ceiling offensively, Bibee has not struck out more than five batters in a start this season. He has allowed six or more earned runs in two of his previous four starts.

Bobby Witt Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105

Bobby Witt Jr. enters on a 19-game hit streak, the longest streak in MLB this season and the longest of his career (.358 average during that span).

Witt Jr. finished second in the MVP voting last year and is off to a similar start through 29 games as last year. Through the first 29 games in 2024, Witt batted .308 with four home runs, a .896 OPS, 146 wRC+ and a 1.5 fWAR, with eight stolen bases. This year, he is batting .315 with two home runs, a .858 OPS, 138 wRC+ and a 1.5 fWAR, with eight stolen bases as well.

What makes Witt Jr. so tough to pitch to is his ability to hit all pitches. He is the only player with a .300 or better batting average and at least a .500 slugging percentage on fastballs, breaking pitches and off-speed pitches (minimum 400 plate appearances). In addition, he entered the week as the MLB leader in batting average with two strikes (.322).

I am backing Witt Jr. to stay hot today and extend his hitting streak.

Cal Raleigh Over 0.5 RBI (+130

Over the weekend, Cal Raleigh hit his 10th home run, which tied him for the MLB lead. In doing so, he became the fourth Mariners player in franchise history with 10+ home runs before the end of April.

Raleigh broke a five-game streak without an RBI in the series finale against the Marlins, and he has a much higher OPS on the road (.615) as opposed to at home (.509). Eight of his 17 RBI have come at home despite doing so on five more at-bats. The Mariners’ offense should have success against Angels righty Jack Kochanowicz, who has allowed 47 runs and 12 home runs in 91.2 career innings.
