Saturday’s Best NFL Preseason Picks & Bets
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions
Starters are bound to play a little more this week, if they are going to play at all in the preseason. But even if we do see Tua Tagovailoa, we will not see him for long. Jared Goff is not expected to play. With those two out for most - or all - of the game, we'll get a heavy dose of Hendon Hooker and Quinn Ewers.
From what these two have shown us so far, don't expect much from either offense in this game. Miami scored 24 points last week versus the Bears, but their longest drive was 58 yards. The Lions scored 24 points in two games. Points will be scarce in this game.
Pick: Under 36.5 Points (-105)
Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles
If Shedeur Sanders was going to play, this one would be a tougher one to predict. The offense looked pretty decent with him behind center, but it looks like the Browns will probably play Tyler Huntley for the whole game. He was 6-of-8 for 51 yards and a touchdown against Carolina's scrubs last week.
As for the Eagles, with Tanner McKee leading the way, they put up 34 points last week against the Bengals. McKee looked good enough to start for some teams (like the Browns). He'll lead the Eagles to enough points against a lackluster Browns team to win this one.
Pick: Eagles -3.5 (-115)
Carolina Panthers vs. Houston Texans
Both teams are coming off lackluster outings in Week 1, where they only scored 10 points. We'll probably see both star quarterbacks in action, but both will undoubtedly get pulled early. However, the Carolina defense appears to be in bad enough shape that C.J. Stroud can give the Texans a lead before he sits that the team will not lose.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales is 1-3 straight up (SU) and 0-4 against the spread (ATS) in preseason action. DeMeco Ryans is 5-3 SU and 4-4 ATS in preseason play. Houston has a better roster and the depth to play well enough to win this game.
Pick: Texans -2.5 (-115)
Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Ravens have gone from being an undefeated preseason juggernaut to just another 1-2 squad in the last two years. Brian Schottenheimer could certainly use a win after last week's dismal showing against the Rams. But the Cowboys will sit their high-priced talent for most, if not all, of the game.
I'd like to say the Cowboys have a chance in this one, but the Ravens will likely let their running backs pound away at a lackluster Dallas defense for most of the game.
Pick: Ravens Moneyline (-132)
