2025 PGA Championship Odds, Picks & Predictions: Patrick Reed

Rory McIlroy's thrilling victory at The Masters last month set up some compelling storylines for the second major of the season, the 2025 PGA Championship, which will be played this week at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.

McIlroy completed the career grand slam with his win at Augusta. If he wins again this week, he'll be halfway to a true grand slam. McIlroy has fared well at Quail Hollow throughout his career, having won four tournaments there. It's a course that favors big hitters — right up McIlroy's alley.

But McIlroy isn't even the favorite this week. That would be Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world. Scheffler cruised to an eight-shot victory at his most recent event, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Will golf fans be treated to a duel between McIlroy and Scheffler? Or will other top players intervene? Defending PGA champ Xander Schauffele is certainly capable of repeating. Justin Thomas and Ludvig Aberg have been hot lately. LIV Tour star Bryson DeChambeau has been frisky in recent majors, and other LIV players — Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton and others — could contend.

Course History

Patrick Reed doesn’t get to play Quail Hollow as much anymore after the move to the LIV Golf tour. In his previous attempts, though, he had a lot of success.

Reed has never missed he cut at Quail Hollow, and in three of his past four tournaments there, he has finished in the top eight or better. His best finish at Quail Hollow was second place at the 2017 PGA Championship.

Recent Form

Reed has had three top-10 finishes in his last four tournaments. His last competition against PGA Tour members resulted in a third-place finish at the Masters, where he was in contention late into the last round on Sunday.

Betting Outlook: 2025 PGA Championship Predictions

Reed has not had great finishes in the past four PGA Championships, having not finished higher than 17th since 2021. Betting the LIV players is always difficult, as they feel like wild cards.

At these majors, though, we keep seeing LIV players in contention. A top-10 finish at +500 odds could be decent value, but Reed will be a stay away for me this week.
