Burnham Square isn’t a favorite, but he isn’t a longshot either, so some bettors may be overlooking him entering this race. He won the Blue Grass on April 8, though needed a big effort down the stretch to win by a nose.

That said, big finishes have been the name of the game for this horse, and he’s had enough to win three of his last four races. The biggest blemish for Burnham Square is a fourth-place finish at the Fountain of Youth Stakes on March 1. However, when you watch that race, you see that he didn’t have a clear path at the top of the stretch, which is a big reason why he wasn’t able to use a late surge to place or show.

But this horse had a lot left at the end, and with this a longer race, he may be better suited for the distance than most in the field.
